BARAHATHAWA, May 11: The Sarlahi section of the East-West Electric Railway project has witnessed 90 percent progress in its construction. Considered a national pride project, the East-West Electric Railway is nearing completion in Sarlahi district.
Information officer of the project, engineer Bhuwaneshwor Yadav, shared that 90 percent construction under the project has been completed in Sarlahi section in six years.

However, progress in opening tracks has faced hurdles in certain areas as the Sagarmatha Forest Project and the Murtiya Forest Office have not granted clearance to remove trees. Also some farmers in Hariban municipality-5 have refused to accept compensation, resulting in zero progress in this particular section.
According to the Lalbandi-based Project Office of the railway, the construction company is yet to receive payment even after completing 90 percent of the work.
