Santosh Panta settles sexual harassment case out of court

DHARAN, Sept 22: Cine artist Santosh Panta has escaped a big trouble.  A sexual harassment case filed against him has been settled after mutual understanding between the accused Panta  and the complainant. 

Panta along with the chief of KTM Security Service Pvt. Ltd, Rameshwor Shah, had been arrested on the alleged charge of sexually harassing a female security guard on September 17.

The case was settled on mutual understanding between the accused and the victim in the presence of Chief District Officer of Sunsari Mohan Chapagain, SP Posh Raj Pokharel and a representative from Mahila Sanjal, Dharan five days after the incident at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Wednesday  evening.

Also the present in the meeting held at the Vice Chancellor’s Office were the Registrar of the Institute Tul Bahadur Shrestha, Hospital Director Dr. Arbind Sinha, district, regional and municipal representatives of All Nepal Women’s Association (ANWA).  

The meeting that barred journalists had lasted for about four hours. Chief of KTM Security guard Rameshwor Shah was present in the meeting on behalf of the victim.
However, the main accused of sexual harassment and brand ambassador of the KTM security Panta was not present in the meeting. 

Actor Panta and Shah allegedly harassed a female security guard of Prerana New Girls Hostel of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences during duty inspection last Saturday.

According to security guards, Panta and Shah, who reached the hostel at 2 am in order to inspect the duty, harassed the female sentry under the influence of alcohol.
KTM had signed the security contract with BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences one year ago.  
The victim filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Dharan but the police office had denied to regsister the complaint saying that it was Saturday.

According to victim Sabita Suyal, Shah and Panta reached the hostel with guard in-charge Rajesh Tamang and Inspector Bishnu Koirala.
