African player Saumel Ongono and Ritesh Khadka netted one each for Sankata before the interval to eliminate the home team from the tournament in its very first match. Khadka sealed the victory during the last minute of stoppage time with an easy strike from the danger zone.
The home team came under pressure after conceding goal in the first half. The team made frequent attempts on goal, but failed to convert them. Nawa Jana Jagriti´s Pukar Ale, Nir Kumar Rai and Raj Kumar Ghising´s attempts in the second half also failed to produce any goal.
Nawa Jana Jagriti coach Deepak Yonjan opined that lack of coordination among his players was the main reason for the defeat.
Sankata coach Rajendra Khadka said he was satisfied with his side´s performance though he had expected a better result. "We will improve in the next match," Khadgi said.
