The Foundation provided Rs 50,000 to national volleyball player Sanjay Aryal, whose two houses in Rampur of Panchkhal Municipality-2, Kavre, was destroyed. Likewise, the Foundation gave away Rs 25,000 to the families of the deceased volleyball coach Keshab Lal Shrestha and sports journalist Suman Bhomjan.
Volleyball player Sanjay himself received the amount from the Foundation's Patron and President Niroj Maskey who is also the Treasurer of Nepal Volleyball Association. Late coach Shrestha's son Kejal and Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) Secretary Prakash Timalsina received the amount for Bhomjan's family.NSJF has formed a five-member committee under its General Secretary Mahesh Acharya's coordination to collect relief amount to Bhomjan's family. NSJF has so far collected 90,000 for the purpose. Meanwhile, NSJF also received Rs 10,000 from Nepal Judo Association on Sunday to Bhomjan's family.
Coach Shrestha, who participated in 1982 Asian Games for the first time, joined National Sports Council as volleyball coach in 1985. He had been head coach of Nepal men's volleyball team for several occasions in international competitions.
Meanwhile, National Sports Council (NSC) on Sunday expressed condolence over the demise of volleyball coach Shrestha. NSC member secretary Yubaraj Lama, member Man Bahadur Neupane, heads of different departments of NSC, coaches and players offered condolences.
Likewise, NSC has decided to hold rehabilitation program for a month for those who have been facing trauma after earthquake. A meeting of NSC officials decided to hold the program titled Together We Can Do at the Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu from Friday morning.
