Nepal Army and IMS exchanged the MoU of sponsorship amidst a function at the Army Headquarters, Bhadrakali, on Thursday. Nepal Army's Major General Rajendra Bahadur Karki and IMS Chairman Deepak Malhotra exchanged the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.As per the agreement, IMS shall provide branded sports kits to the men's football team worth Rs 2 million for a period of one year beginning from September 1 to August 31 next year.
IMS on Thursday handed over sports kits worth Rs 1.536 million to the football team. IMS shall fulfill its obligation as per the demand of the club. In return, the club shall wear the jersey having the logo of Samsung Smartphone in the front side in any official football tournament it plays during the contract period.
Speaking at the program, Malhotra defined sports as a tool of unity in the country and said that the players would be motivated by the agreement.
"We are optimistic of renewing the sponsorship next year and we shall come with more improved deal," Malhotra said, adding that he was confident of the club's top finish in the ongoing National League football tournament.
Major General Karki thanked IMS for the sponsorship and said that the institution would look forward for cooperation. YB Yong, the country director of Samsung Mobile, also attended the function.
The departmental team currently sits third in the standings of the National League, the biggest and most prestigious domestic football tournament of the country. It is two points behind leader Three Star Club and one point behind second-placed Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) with three rounds of matches left.
Army, scheduled to take on Far Western Football Club in its next fixture on Friday, could confirm second-place finish in the tournament irrespective of any outcome of the other teams if it wins all three remaining fixtures. Army will take on Lumbini FC on Monday and wraps up its league campaign against Nepal Police Club on next Friday.
