KATHMANDU, May 7: Samsung India Electronics is sending relief material worth US$ 500,000 for quake victims of Nepal. Issuing a statement on Thursday, Samsung India Electronics said it has collaborated with the Government of India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to ensure speedy transportation and distribution of relief material to those who need it the most.

The company is sending 3,300 tents, 40,000 blankets, 2,000 backpacks and food grains. To assist and enable the quake-hit people to reach out to their loved ones, Samsung Care for Nepal has set up communication centers at Bhaktapur, Chhauni and Tundikhel. "From the center, commoners can make free phone calls anywhere in Nepal and internationally, use Internet free of cost, and charge their mobile phones," the statement added.
Round Table Nepal extends helping hand
Round Table Nepal (RTN), a nonpolitical organization, has distributed temporary shelter, dry food items, drinking water, rice and lentils, and sanitation kits, among other relief material, to quake victims of Gorkha, Sindhupalchowk, Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Ramechhap districts. Issuing a statement on Thursday, the organization said that it has also donated equipment and medicines to Tribhuvan Universirty Teaching Hospital to support their emergency response teams. The organization has also said said that it plans to pursue a 'All4Nepal internationally' project as part of long-term rehabilitation process for the quake-hit children. "We plan to adopt schools in the hardest hit areas so that children are not left behind in the rehabilitation process as education holds the future of our great nation," the statement added. The organization has also said that all its projects have zero percent administrative costs.
