KATHMANDU, April 6: Sajha Yatayat, a public transport company, has not yet got a go-ahead to ply in Bhaktapur District.
Despite filing an application at the Department of Transport Management (DTM) on March 13 seeking permission to operate its service in the district, Sajha Yatayat couldn't obtain the permission due to negligence of the staffer of the concerned body.
Let Sajha rise
Acting executive officer of Sajha Yatayat, Mahendra Pandey, told Republica that the transportation company has not been given permission to run in Bhaktapur following pressure exerted by the local bus entrepreneurs. Sajha Yatayat had applied for a route permit to run in Bhaktapur district at the request of the locals a week ago.
It has planned to extend its services to Bhaktapur from 20 buses which are currently plying the Kalanki-Koteshwar route.
Dharma Raj Rijal, coordinator of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) Bagmati chapter, said, “We will not allow Sajha Yatayat to run on any route it wishes to.”
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Deepak Kafle said that a meeting of the DTM held on March 30 had decided to allow Sajha Yatayat to run in Bhaktapur district.
The DTM should grant the route permit if the application is filed at the department by the bus entrepreneur in line with section 81 of the Transport Management Act.
