Presenting the Kathmandu Declaration at the closing ceremony, SAFA President Komal Chitrakar said the summit recognized that accounting institutes will play a facilitating role in influencing the enterprises and will drive the members to acquire the relevant skills and competencies.
The summit also formulated action plan to develop and conduct continuous programs for overall development of the members. The other action plan includes conducting surveys independently or in collaboration with other regional bodies in the SAARC region to identify gaps in the financial management practices of enterprises supportive of sustainable development.
Speaking at the program, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey urged the accounting institutes to take learn from the recent global financial crisis. “Accountants should try to reflect even small errors to keep proper track record of accounting activities,” he added.
The program saw the participation of nine accounting institutes of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participated took part in the summit.
