SAF teams get grounds for practice matches

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has managed four grounds in Kathmandu Valley for the practice matches to eight different football teams participating in the eighth South Asian Football (SAF) Championship scheduled from August 31 to September 10.



Chief Executive Officer of ANFA Indraman Tuladhar said that the two playgrounds of Nepal Army´s Sports and Physical Training of Lagankhel, playground of Nepal Army Headquarters, Bhadrakali, and playground of Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, have been fixed for practice matches to the players. However, out of 15 league matches, three will be played at the Halchowk-based playground of the Armed Police Force Headquarters while remaining 12 matches will be played at the Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwor.



General Secretary of ANFA Dhirendra Pradhan said that two best football grounds available in the valley have been selected for the practice matches.



However, the teams have not been given the grounds for the practice matches.



All the eight teams from the SAARC countries would participate in the SAF championship.



Meanwhile, Nepali football team that had left aboard for practice match is arriving home this evening, ANFA General Secretary Pradhan said.

In its practice matches, the Nepali team played with Bahrain and Kuwait.
