The family of priests began the slaughter by sacrificing five animals including wild mouse, pig, hen, he- goat and he- buffalo at 9:15 am at Baramsthan, some 100 meters east from the Gadhimai Temple.
According to priest Mangal Chaudhary, over 2.5 million devotees visited the temple alone on Tuesday.
Similarly, two Indian baby girls froze to death due to severe cold in the festival venue this morning.
According to the Bara District Police Office, the deceased are four-month-old daughter of Rajesh Gupta of Bajriya and one-year-old daughter of Narkatiyagunj. It is said they spent night in the festival venue.
