Ruling NCP's emergency meeting at 5:30

KATHMANDU, April 20: An emergency meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party's central secretariat is taking place shortly.


Surya Thapa, the prime minister's press advisor, wrote on Facebook that the meeting is being held at the Prime Minister's Office in Baluwatar at 5:30PM today.

Earlier this afternoon, a group of ministers representing the former Maoists within the NCP held a secret meeting at the NCP's executive chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Khumaltar. 


This rapid political development unfolded today as the cabinet decided to send an ordinance that allows parties to split with just 40% of members from their central committee  to the president. 


UPDATE: According to press advisor Thapa, the meeting began at 6:00PM.
