KATHMANDU, May 11: Senior leaders of the ruling five-party alliance have appealed to all to vote for the candidates of the coalition and give them a majority by enthusiastically participating in the local elections to be held on May 13.
Issuing an appeal to all citizens on Tuesday, top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha called on the voters to cast votes for the candidates of the coalition parties.
Arguing that the alliance was formed to safeguard the achievements made through different political struggles after defeating the forces that attacked the constitution and dissolved parliament, they have in the appeal said the present government was formed on the basis of 'consensus and collaboration' against the politics of negation following the dissolution of the parliament twice.

"The five-party unity was established by realizing the responsibility of giving a way out to the country by maintaining the process of good governance and development along with political stability. Keeping this unity intact, we have filed nominations in the local level election by coordinating among the five parties in the alliance. Today, we, the five parties of the alliance, pledge to remain steadfast for democracy, human rights, rule of law, development and prosperity of the country, social justice and freedom,” reads the appeal issued by the leaders of the alliance.
Stating that the unconstitutional dissolution of the parliament raised many questions on the issues of federal democratic republic, separation of powers, values of constitutionalism, self-respect and security of the country, they have maintained that it is now the responsibility of the general electorate to turn this challenge into an opportunity by fulfilling this historic obligation.
The country is sure to take a decisive mode after the local level election, the top leaders of the five-party alliance have said that the country’s unity would be strengthened and politics could be taken on the right track of democracy after the local level election.
The top leaders of the ruling alliance have also promised to play a leading role as per people’s aspirations for the country’s broader interest while taking the responsibility offered by the people as an opportunity.
As the country’s development, prosperity and protection of democracy is possible at the backing of the alliance, the top leaders have expressed their confidence that the voters would use their conscience to vote for the candidates of the ruling alliance. They have also pledged to remain with the people in weal and woe, and remain dedicated to ensure rights of all classes, regions and communities.
The appeal to the citizens is signed by Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal’s Vice-Chairperson Durga Poudel.
