Premised on this very provision of the RTI Act 2007, right activists in the Freedom Forum sought various information including details about party publicity policy, salaried employees, authentic media as website, radio, mouthpieces, any leaders/office bearers to get regular salary and incentives and the sum of remuneration they are paid off.
Among other information sought from the political parties are the donation the party gets or collects, the details of the donors giving more that Rs 20,000 in the recent three year, any business, hospital, cooperatives, bank, college and organizations being operated or managed by the party, physical property, annual audited reports, party statute and regulations.
´The political parties have not only the obligation to disclose their activities among the people but also have the responsibility to propel and lead the agenda of transparency and accountability´, said Taranath Dahal, Chairperson of Freedom Forum.
Through the campaign, the Forum has urged the parties to provide with information by internalizing the essence and emergence of the RTI as a tool to foster people responsive governance.
