KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has issued a circular for its members and cadres, calling for at least 100 representatives from each of the 77 districts to reach Pokhara.
Following the arrest of RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, RSP mobilized its leaders and supporters for a protest in Pokhara. According to the instructions of the Central Secretariat, the provincial committees have conveyed the message to the subordinates. In a message sent to subordinate party structures at midnight on Saturday, they have been instructed to gather in Pokhara, with at least 100 people from each district.
In the message sent to its members, they have been urged to move to Pokhara as soon as possible.

Police arrested RSP Chairman Lamichhane in connection with a cooperative fraud case and brought him to Pokhara on Saturday morning. Lamichhane is set to be presented to court today. The RSP staged demonstrations in Kathmandu and Pokhara on Saturday against Lamichhane’s arrest. The party is also planning to protest in Pokhara today.
Security beefed up in Pokhara
Meanwhile, the security system of Pokhara has been tightened before the appearance of RSP Chairman Lamichhane at the Kaski District Court today.
A large number of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilized along the route from Rastra Bank Chowk to Shahid Chowk, leading to the Kaski District Court.
The deployment of police has been increased as the possibility that security challenges may increase during demonstrations for and against Lamichhane.
The RSP has called on its leaders and activists to participate in protests, claiming that Lamichhane has been targeted out of political vendetta, while the cooperative victims are urging the people to gather at the Rastra Bank Chowk, demanding a fair investigation and justice.
Earlier, RSP leaders and cadres demonstrated at Shahid Chowk while the cooperative victims staged protests at Rastra Bank Chowk. Today, security personnel have been stationed at both locations to maintain order.
