KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has approached the Human Rights Commission. The party has filed a complaint, claiming a violation of human rights concerning the detention of its party chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested and taken into custody in connection with a cooperative fraud case.
In a petition sent by RSP's acting general secretary, Kabindra Burlakoti, it is mentioned that Lamichhane was transferred from Chitwan to Pokhara in an inhuman manner on December 4.

The petition mentions that the incident occurred under the direct supervision of the government. "Information from police sources has revealed that the incident took place under the direct direction of the government. This action by the government is an inhuman, humiliating, and unjust act of torture against the leader of a competing political party, using various pretexts and abusing the state apparatus. It is state terror. This action by the government has violated the natural human rights of the citizens," the petition states.
The petition also mentions that Lamichhane's personal belongings were seized. "The president's personal diary has disappeared from custody, which is against fundamental rights and confidentiality," it states.
Earlier, Lamichhane was taken to Chitwan on December 3. After his statement regarding the Sahara Cooperative embezzlement was completed the following day, he was allowed to rest and sleep. However, he was picked up and driven to Pokhara at 3 am that night.
RSP and Lamichhane's lawyers have called this an action against human rights. However, Chitwan police have clarified that they had to take him to Pokhara at night for security reasons.
