According to the secretary of Sports Ground Development Committee Sushil Phuyal, Adhikari had availed the amount from the parliamentary development fund. Handing over the fund to committee President Chirinjivi Khanal CA Member Adhikari appealed to carry the construction work in full swing and also committed for further financial support.
NC Mulpani Village Committee had initiated the construction of ground two years earlier with Rs 300,000 raised from Deusi-Vailo program. Mulpani VDC had funded the equal amount for the purpose. According to Phuyal construction works worth Rs 1.1 million has already been conducted.
"The committee will take further initiative to get support for the construction work of ground with an area of 27 ropanis from the Government of Nepal, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and National Sports Council," the press release states which has also appealed for further support from related agencies and sports lover.
"Despite the existence of a large number of professional football clubs in the capital, a large number of them are facing problems in training due to unavailability of ground and the construction of ground will be fruitful in the development of football in Nepal," Phuyal stated.
Three more members nominated in NSC
The Ministry for Youth and Sports on Sunday nominated three members to the National Sports Council (NSC) as per the provision for nominating three members from the associations affiliated to the council.
Those nominated are Reshamlal Lama from Shito Ryu Karate Association, Man Bahadur Neupane from Judo Association and Devkumar Lama from Sports Chanbara Association. The ministry has already nominated six members in the past. [break]
Officials resign from Paralympics panel
Three top-ranked officials of Nepal Paralympics Committee has announced resignation from their posts expressing dissatisfaction over the working style of its President Deepak Koirala and some other office bearers.
The officials to resign are Vice-president Kumar Niraula, General Secretary Raju Humagain and Secretary Prakash Chilwal.
In their joint resignation letter, they stated six different points of dissatisfaction including financial ambiguity and autocracy of the president among others.
Tsering on top
Tashi Tsering topped the leader-board of the First RNGC Open Amateur Golf Championship after the completion of 36 holes on Sunday.
Tsering, who had 74 gross points on day I, shot 69 on Sunday to jump to the top position with a total of 143 gross score. Tashi Ghale is second with the total score of 144 and Neeraj Rana is third with a score of 147.
Dinesh Prajapati has gross total of 148 for the fourth position while Dipendra Rayamajhi and Gorkha Lama are joint fifth with 149 gross points.
Meanwhile, Tendi Sherpa was declared the winner in the net score after 36 holes while Indra Lamichhane is runner-up. Sherpa has 131 net score as Lamichhane has net score of 132.
The competition is being played on 54 holes stroke play format. According to the host Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC), the amateurs will receive ´Ranking Points´, which will be recognized by world amateur ranking, in the tournament sanctioned by Nepal Golf Association.
U-19 team wins practice match
Nepal U-19 team registered a 6-wicket victory over Nepal APF Club in a practice match played at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Sunday.
The U-19 team is preparing for the World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to be held in Northern Ireland from July 28 to August 9.
Winning the toss in the 35-over match, the U-19 team invited APF to bat first and restricted the latter to 97 runs in 30.2 overs.
Rahul BK took three wickets in his 3.2 overs conceding 14 runs, while Rupesh Shrivastav took two wickets. Mehboob Alam was the highest run scorer with 34 runs off 43 balls.
The U-19 team then reached the target of 98 in 32.1 overs losing four wickets. Prithu Baskota guided the team to victory with an undefeated 48 runs off 69 balls.
Naresh Budhayer scored 12 runs off 66 balls. Amrit Bhattarai, Alam, Paras Khadka and Basanta Regmi took a wicket each for APF.
Nawajagriti, Malpi win
Nawajagriti High School defeated Model Academy 3-1 on Sunday in the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Boys´ National Football Tournament at the Satdobato ground.
Roshan Magar scored a brace and Rajkumar Lama added another for the winning side, while Bibek Tandukar pulled one back for Model. In another match, Adarsha High School beat Bal Gitanjali 5-4 in sudden death following a goalless stalemate in regulation time and 3-3 draw in tie-breaker.
Similarly, Malpi beat Guheshwari Higher Secondary School 4-1. Ananta Gurung scored two goals and Ashik Pokharel scored one for Malpi, which was also gifted an own goal by Guheshwari.
Meanwhile, ANFA has declared Cambridge Public School as the winner of Saturday´s match against Jalpa Higher Secondary School following an inquiry into a protest filed by Cambridge. Cambridge, which lost the match 2-1, had lodged a protest claiming that Jalpa had fielded over-aged players and outsiders in its squad.
