KATHMANDU, May 1: The meeting of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) central working committee is halted for some hours as President Bidya Devi Bhandari has invited the party chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa for political briefing.
"The meeting that began in the morning has been discussing on the impeachment motion registered in the parliament against the Chief Justice as well as the indiscipline shown by some lawmakers of the party," said central committee member Sushil Kumar Shrestha.
Eight lawmakers from the party did not appear in the Parliament meeting on Sunday, when the parliament was set to discuss on the constitution amendment bill. The lawmakers from the party had gone out of contact unless the meeting was deferred until Thursday.
"The meeting has been discussing whether to withdraw support to the government or not. However, we have not reached to any conclusion," he added.
According to Shrestha, Chairman Thapa informed the meeting that the President has summoned him and the meeting would be resumed in the evening.
