ICC U-19 World Cup
KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Nepal's preparation for the youth cricket world cup has been dragged into fresh controversy after Suhash Shahi was named the U-19 national team manager as per the directive of the National Sports Council without the consent of Cricket Association of Nepal. Nepali youth team is all set leave for India on Wednesday to prepare for the ICC U-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh from January 22 to February 14.

The executive committee of CAN under newly-elected President Chatur Bahadur Chand had selected Uttam Karmacharya as the team manager and Nabin Singh was named the assistant coach for the tour, according to CAN general secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel.

However, a press release issued by CAN Chief Executive Officer Bhawana Ghimire on Tuesday states that Shahi has been nominated the manager and Binod Das as the assistant coach.

CEO Ghimire had recently said that she would follow the directives given by the National Sports Council, as it is the sports governing body, rather than the directives of CAN executive committee.

CAN General Secretary Pyakurel said that the NSC has been interfering in CAN's activities unnecessarily. He also claimed that the cricket governing body will grill CEO Ghimire for not following its directives.

However, there were no differences regarding the team's head coach Jagat Tamata.

As per the press release issued by Ghimire, Nepal will spend more than two weeks in India to prepare for the World Cup and play couple of practice matches as well.
Nepali team comprises of 19 players out of which 15 are regulars and four are reserve players.
