Rotaract quiz final today

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Gandaki Boarding School, Kumudini School, Elites Co-Ed and Pushpa Sadan ‘B’ are among the four finalist schools which will be competing Tuesday for the grand finale at the GSM Hall, Himalayan White House College to claim the Third Rotaract Running Shield (RSS), an inter-school quiz competition organized by the Rotaract Club of Kastamandap.[break]



“The main objective of the program is to promote intellectual development among the students and to spread the global message of world literacy at local level,” says the quiz master Rtr. Bishwa Man Angdembe.



With a huge response and participation from 63 schools, there were also 10 schools were from outside the valley. The accommodation for students from outside the valley was provided by Himalayan White House College at Khumaltar height, Vajra Academy and Maryland Public Higher Secondary school.







“The unique part of our quiz is that it also comprises of written quiz and students were quite nervous and excited about it upfront,” says Aashish Chaulagain, the president of the Rotary Club of Kastamandap. “The schools from outside the valley were quite excited to get involved and to compete with the schools inside the valley and the overall response was much better than expected.”



The winners this year will be awarded with Cash Prize of Rs 8000 and 100% scholarship for their studies in Himalayan White House College and 6 months free subscription of Republica National Daily. The team that will stand second will be awarded cash prize of Rs 5000, 75% of scholarship in tuition fees in Himalayan White House College and 3 months free subscription of Republica National Daily. Third prize will comprise of Rs 3000, 50% scholarship in tuition fees in Himalayan White House College and 3 months free subscription of Republica National Daily. The consolation prize will be the scholarship of 25% in tuition fees of Himalayan White House College.



The RSS, this year has its theme as ‘Literacy is the Best Remedy’ and to live up with their theme, the quiz tourney is concluding today which also happens to be the World Literacy Day. Program Coordinator of the quiz tourney, Rtr. Pratik Shrestha says, “I believe it is a national pride as the third RRS has taken a great forward leap standing in support of first and second RRS. We hope that in the next sequel, this competition would be a truly national competition with sufficient attention and publicity as well as increased excitement from student’s corner.”
