FC Vestsjaelland, also known as FCV Vikings, is a professional Danish football club currently playing in the Danish Superliga. The club established in 2008 was promoted to the Superliga this season. The team currently lies seventh in the 12-team Superliga. Of the 15 matches played so far, FCV Vikings has won five, drawn five and lost five matches.
Rohit will train with the club for more than one and half months until December 25. If he impresses the club during trial following the training, he will be enrolled during Europe"s January transfer window. The club"s training started on October 25, a day after Rohit received the invitation letter from the club.
´The training and trial is a big opportunity for me. I will try my best during training and trial to secure a place in the squad,´ said Rohit, adding that it was also an opportunity for him to learn as he was still in the learning process in football.
After the trial Rohit will become the first Nepali footballer to officially attend trial at a top-flight European football club. Rohit made his national team debut in 2009, a year before starting his professional football career with top-tier domestic team NMB Bank Machhindra FC. He has been a regular member of the national squad ever since and has always played the full 90 minutes. Rohit recently signed a short-term contract with Machhindra FC for Rs 150,000 per month making him the highest-paid footballer in Nepal.
After his first season with Machhindra FC, Chand played for the I-League side Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for two seasons. He became the first Nepali player to play professional football outside South Asia when he was signed by Indonesian top-tier teams PSPS Pekanbaru and Persijas Jakarta last season.
Before his move to Indonesia, Rohit was a central defender but his position was changed to defensive midfielder in Indonesia. He played as a defensive midfielder in the recently held SAFF Championship on home ground too. ´My position could be confirmed once I reach Denmark. I prefer to play in midfield. However, wherever I see potential -- defense or midfield -- I could take that position,´ Rohit told.
Rabindra said the club will provide accommodation and pocket money to Rohit once he joins training. However, he will have to bear airfare expenses on his own.
If Rohit fails the FCV Vikings trial, he will join an Indonesian top-tier team, yet to be confirmed, in January. The Indonesian league begins in January.
´We are equally focused on training and trial. The training and trial will also help Rohit know the standard of European football, which will be helpful to his career in the long run,´ Rabindra said.
According to Rabindra, the CEO of Anglian Management Group (India), Dhruv Ratra, facilitated the training-cum-trial. ´Along with Ratra, I want to thank Biplav Gautam, the vice-president, and Nabin Chitrakar, the general secretary of Machhindra FC who helped us technically as well as strategically for his training-cum-trial,´ said Rabindra.
