MAHOTTARI, June 16: Cadres of the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) on Friday have set fire to election-related documents that were in possession of election officer of Pipara Rural Municipality.
When election Officer Lekhanath Luitel was about to leave the office of the Pipara Rural Municipality for Jaleshwar, cadres of RJPN looted the documents at Parikauli Chowk of Janakpur-Jayanagar road section.
Election code should be suspended for some time
According to him, at 7:30 am RJPN cadres stopped Luitel who was on a motorcycle (JA 9 PA 5905) and looted the documents. The documents included election directives, election regulations, election code of conduct among other things.
The party had called a general strike on Friday against government's decision to hold local election in the tarai.
