KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The rift in the Maoist-aligned Federation of the National Employees Association has grown wider after leaders from the party establishment called a separate function to be attended by Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.

Of the total 11 organizations under the federation, chiefs of the 10 organizations are from the party establishment and they have joined hands against Rukma Lamichhane, chief of the federation, who is from the Baidya faction. [break]

“It is not a function organized by the federation, but by the 10 organizations under the federation,” said Nilkantha Tiwari, founding member of the federation who is close to Dahal.

While the radical faction led by Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya has accused the party establishment of trying to split the federation, those from the party establishment have accused Lamichhane of acting on whims and running the organization in a unilateral manner.
