Rift in Front as Yadav-led Forum registers party in EC

One of the main allies of Madheshi Front, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has registered the party in Election Commission (EC) for the local election.

KATHMANDU, March 2 :One of the main allies of Madheshi Front, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has registered the party in Election Commission (EC) for the local election.  


Forum Chairman Upendra Yadav has registered the party in the EC at a time when the parties affiliated to Madheshi Front are protesting against the announcement of the date of the local election.


Other six parties affiliated with the Front have denied registering their parties in EC citing they will not participate in the local election until their demands are fulfilled. They are demanding for the constitution amendment from the Parliament.They have criticized the Yadav –led Forum Nepal for registering the party for the election.

Coordinator of the election department of the party and the chief whip of the parliamentary party Shivaji Yadav registered the party in the EC on Monday fulfilling all the necessary procedures.


The party, however, did not inform its co-ally parties before registering the party.


Leader Yadav claimed that every party has its own right to register in the EC. “Every parties are independent whether to register in the EC or not. It is our party’s decision” Yadav told Republica online.


Earlier, the EC had urged all political parties listed with the commission to register their parties’ names with it by March 1, Wednesday, to take part in the local level election.


All the parties that have registered with the commission or its regional or district offices, as per a notice issued by the commission on January 9 could, take part in the election.
