BIRATNAGAR, Nov 24: The revenue collection from Biratnagar Customs Office decreased further last month. In the month of Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), the Biratnagar Customs Office collected only 47.81 percent of the target revenue.
According to the data of Biratnagar Customs Office, in the month of Kartik of the current fiscal year, Biratnagar Customs Office has collected only 1.9132 billion rupees in revenue against the target of 4.22 billion rupees.
The Biratnagar Customs Office collected only 60.14 percent of the target revenue in Bhadra (mid-September to mid- October). In that month, Biratnagar Customs had set a target of 4.8477 billion rupees, but collected only 2.9153 billion rupees.

In the month of Shrawan (mid-August to mid-September), Biratnagar Customs Office collected 56.81 percent of the target revenue. For the month, only 2.5319 billion rupees were collected out of the target of 4.4566 billion rupees.
In Asadh (mid-July to mid-August), the Biratnagar Customs Office collected only 81.57 percent of the target revenue. For the month, the customs office collected only 2.8529 billion rupees out of the target of 3.4976 billion rupees.
Despite the increase in prices in the international market, due to the decrease in demand in Nepal's domestic market, the customs revenue has also decreased due to the impact of international trade through the Biratnagar border crossing.
The revenue collected in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2023/24 is low even compared to the previous year. In the first four months of the previous fiscal year 2022/23, the Biratnagar Customs Office collected 11.7843 billion rupees in revenue. In the first four months of the current fiscal year, the Biratnagar Customs Office has collected only 10.2133 billion rupees.
