PARSA, March 27: The major customs point of Nepal, Birgunj Customs Office has witnessed a drop in revenue collection due to the decrease in the import of motor vehicles.
It collected over Rs 8.9 billion in revenue so far in this fiscal year as against the target of over Rs 9.07 billion.
The statistics shows that the revenue collection has decreased by over Rs 970 million, said office chief Sewanta Pokharel.
The revenue has dropped notably after the banks tightened their loan investment in the purchase of vehicles as the main source of collecting revenue was tax for importing vehicles.
According to Pokharel, vehicles and petroleum products have major contribution in the revenue collection from Birgunj Customs Office therefore they failed to meet the target. RSS
