The event, Dream Create Live, featured 47 Nepali girls portraying their collective experience through the story of two child workers saved from labor by other youths.[break]
Sumnima Tuladhar, Executive Coordinator of CWIN Nepal, said the play was a ‘story of hope’ that showed how far the NGO has come in rehabilitating children.
“We have given children a voice in our 25 years. Today we see them speaking for themselves and expressing themselves through art,” she said.
CWIN Nepal was first formed in 1987 by a bunch of student activists wishing to bring light to the large problem of child labor, trafficking, and abuse in the country.
“Today we have better policies for children but we’re not at all satisfied. The implementation is still very bad, especially in regards to trafficking,” said Tuladhar.

Emancipated children with CWIN perform a play during ‘Dream Create Live’, an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of CWIN, at DAV school, Jawalakhel on Friday.
The play displayed that problem with the story of a young scared house servant and a cheeky young hotel attendant both facing abuse at the hands of their older masters.
The event at DAV School in Jawalakhel also featured a live art performance by Nepali painter, Kiran Manandhar, known for creating a 126 meters long painting at the top of the Dharahara in Kathmandu.
In under an hour, Manandhar painted five canvases in thick gouache style – with scenes showing children carrying each other and playing – as the children danced onstage.
Singer Astha Tamang-Maskey, a 23-year-old singer based in Canada but born in Nepal, also gave her voice to CWIN Nepal’s celebrations with the performance of her newly released songs.
