A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding its ruling to bar Vice Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bam Dev Gautam from assuming a ministerial portfolio. Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi filed the writ petition on Monday, arguing that it was against the constitutional provisions to appoint someone defeated in the parliamentary election to give a cabinet berth. In the writ petition, Tripathi has also sought the apex court order to bar Gautam from working in the capacity of lawmaker. A hearing on the writ petition has been scheduled for Wednesday, according to Tripathi.
