Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel said the the names of those recommended for Republic Day honors will be revised keeping in view with the opinions coming out at the ordinary people´s level.
Pokharel said the cabinet meeting decided to develop standards and hold due discussions in Social Committee of the cabinet before recommending names for Republic Day honors in the coming years.
Meanwhile, the cabinet decided to provide Rs 100,000 compensation to families of each person killed while working abroad. The decision followed demands from the families of such victims. Talking to media persons, Pokharel said the decision was made to assist the families of such ill-fated persons.
The cabinet meeting decided to make it mandatory for all government as well as non-government agencies to receive prior approval from Ministry of Finance while receiving any kind of assistance from foreign countries or organizations. “The cabinet has decided to direct all government bodies concerned to this effect,” Pokharel said.
According to him, the meeting also decided to accord martyr status to the late Ram Kant Subedi who was seriously injured during Janaandolan II and breathed his last recently.
The cabinet meeting appointed Bauwa Lal Sharma Khatwe as a member of National Dalit Commission and Sabur Lal Sah (Saptari), Ram Aashish Gupta (Sarlahi) and Lalita Sah (Banke) as members of Committee to Uplift Backward Communities. Likewise, Sanjeev Kumar Mallik has been appointed as General Manager of Nepal Railway Company.
Wednesday´s cabinet meeting also gave nod to the Voters´ List Amendment Regulations 2067 BS and National Sports Policy 2067 BS.
