Inaugurating the Third International Conference on Climate Change jointly organized on Friday by the Ministry of Environment, Alternative Energy Promotion Centre and the Centre for Energy Studies (CES) of the Institute of Engineering, President Dr. Yadav pointed out the need for formulating proper polices stressing on the renewable energy. President Dr. Yadav expressed the view that if the renewable energy could be developed and expanded by reducing the dependency on bio-energy which increases green house gas, it would help in bettering the lifestyles of the people besides contributing in the protection of environment
At the program, Minister for Environment Hem Raj Tated said as energy consumption and climate change have direct relations, the government has stressed on development of renewable energy technology for the past ten years.
Conference organizing committee chairman and Director of the Centre Energy Studies, Dr. Triratna Bajracharya said the conference was organized to exchange knowledge and experience on minimization of climate change impact from promotion of clean energy.

Norwegian Ambassador Alf Arne Ramslien said Norway had been cooperating with Nepal on the practices in the world in the development of renewable energy.
Some 300 experts of 15 countries from the energy and environment sector of the world including Nepal have been participating in the conference that began Wednesday.
Working papers on access and extension of clean energy in the rural people, economic aspect of climate change, problem of glaciers in Himalayan countries, sustainable environment development, water management, carbon trade, among others, were presented.
The first conference was held in 1998 and second conference 2003 in Nepal. Since then, much work has been accomplished in Nepal with international aid received in energy and environment sector.
