Speakers at the function held to coincide with the World Peace Day stressed that world peace can only be attained with religious tolerance. “We brought together different religious leaders to a single place as the development of country is not possible without religious tolerance,” said the president of the Briddhashram, Farmullah Mansur.

Father Ramron Peter said he had never seen such function and felt this type of function that includes all religions boosted morale of everyone. Chief guest of the function 105-year-old Haji Sharif Miya expressed happiness in being involved for a good cause in the evening of his life. “Everybody will benefit, if people of all religions work collectively,” Miya said.
Hindu priest Sukadev Sah and Buddhist monk Padam Bahadur Lama were also present to initiate construction of the old-age home that is estimated to cost around Rs 12.5 million.
The government has provided Rs 1.5 million and Bara District Development Committee, Kalaiya Municipality, Birgunj Sub-metropolis, business entrepreneurs and Constituent Assembly members have pledged to contribute the rest of the amount, said treasurer of the old-age home Madhu Shahi.
