Relief for fire victims in Tehrathum and Bhojpur

BHOJPUR, March 15: The local government agencies and various Nepali individuals have provided relief assistance in cash to the fire victims' families of Tehrathum and Bhojpur districts.

BHOJPUR, March 15: The local government agencies and various Nepali individuals have provided relief assistance in cash to the fire victims' families of Tehrathum and Bhojpur districts. 


As many as 35 households in Sakranti Bazar in Tehrathum were provided with Rs 10,000 each by the District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC), Tehrathum, shared Chief District Officer (CDO) of Tehrathum, Ashman Tamang. 


A team comprising CDO Ashman Tamang, Local Development Officer Tulsi Gautam among others reached the locality to distribute the relief assistance today.

A massive fire broke out at Sakranti Bazar in the district on December 16, 2016 had reduced 24 houses to ashes while nine other houses had received partial damages incurring financial loss worth more than Rs 120 million. 


A total of 73 households were displaced in the incident. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi had made an on-site visit following the fire incident and pledged Rs 10,000 to each fire victim households. 


Meanwhile, the fund amounting to more than Rs 500,000 collected by various Nepali individuals residing in South Korea was handed over the local authority in Bhojpur district to distribute to survivors of natural disaster and fire in the district. 


The Nepalis from Bhojpur and now working in South Korea collected the amount and handed over through Nepali Society, South Korea. 


Representative of Nepali Society, South Korea Sunil Bantawa and Lokesh Ale handed over the amount to the Chief District Officer Gomadevi Chemjong amid a programme on Tuesday. 


Similarly, Bhojpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry also handed over assistance worth more than Rs 100,000 for the natural disaster victims in the district. A total of 12 houses were destroyed in a fire at Bhojpur Bazar on November 20, 2016. RSS
