Various members of the association expressed concern over inefficacy of the association. “We have not done anything noteworthy for the film fraternity. We should focus on crises like piracy and pressure on producers. We also need a stable political condition in the country in order to work comfortably,” stated Keshav Bhattarai, the advisor to NFPA.
Ashok Sharma, the acting president, added, “The condition of Nepali cinema industry is pitiable and Nepali audiences have been deprived of infrastructure and atmosphere for better cinema experience. These things can change only with government support.”
Prominent contributors were awarded with ‘Kadar Patra’ at the event were. Director Shiva Regmi was felicitated with “Surya Prakash Thapa Award” for his film “Kaha Bhetiela” that grossed highest in box office sales.
Shiva Gaunle, the president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, opined, “Nepali cinema artists should be able to embrace criticisms of their work in the media and learn to correct themselves.”
Similarly, Gagan Thapa, a CA member from Nepali Congress, expressed, “Nepali cinema artists should think outside-the-box and make films according to the changing tastes and outlook of Nepali public. The government will definitely extend support if the organization approaches it in a right way.”
Another CA member, Yogesh Bhattarai showed confidence in young artists saying, “The new generation cinema will prove to be much better than the previous ones.”
