Assuaging concerns of party cadres that the chief justice led government may turn dictatorial any time, Koirala said NC had to agree on chief justice-led government as then Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai was bent on making all the constitutional bodies dysfunctional. [break]
“It was not an easy decision for the party to agree on formation of chief justice-led government,” said Koirala addressing the sixth general convention of the Nepal Health Professional Federation. “The situation under the Bhattarai-led government would have been unimaginable. But we have been able to expedite election process after the formation of Regmi-led government,” he said.
Addressing another function in Pokhara, Koirala said, “The parties that are against election have taken to the streets protesting the four-party syndicate. The agitating parties should now break the four-party syndicate.
Koirala also expressed confidence that the agitating parties would eventually join the election process. “I am confident that the agitating parties will join the election process. Election date should be announced after settling all the contentious issues," he said.
Koirala also warned that the parties against election would soon see their demise. “All political parties need to participate in the election,” he said.
