Regmi, Dahal discuss contemporary political situation

KATHMANDU, May 19: Chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi, and Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, on Sunday, held talks on latest political situation and possible solution to it.



It is learnt that they discussed on the threshold of minimum votes, number of constituencies, and whether a convicted person can be candidate for the election, among others.[break]



They are also learnt to have held discussions on the efforts made from their respective sides to settle the disputes among the political parties regarding the ordinance to amend the election laws.



Similarly, IEC Chairman Regmi and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Dahal held discussions for declaring the date for CA election by resolving the disputed issues, hold talks with the agitating political parties and move ahead for the election process for giving an outlet to the existing political impasse, said Chairman Dahal´s aide Shiva Khakurel.



IEC Chairman has been holding separate talks with political parties to resolve the contentious issues in the proposed election laws.



The High Level Political Committee meeting has handed over the responsibilities to coordinate and consult with the dissenting political parties to Chairman of the CPN-UML and coordinator of the Committee, Jhalanath Khanal.
