RAUTAHAT, Jan 26: Indian Customs office at Raxaul has said that there will be no obstruction from its side if Nepali importers import goods through the entry point.

The Birgunj-Raxaul border point has remained obstructed since four months following protest by cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).

Although UDMF has continued sit-ins at the checkpoint, Indian officials have turned positive on resuming the entry point.

Communication officer at Raxaul Customs Abisekh Kamal said that there will be no obstruction in importing goods.

“If businessmen are ready to import goods on any vehicles, there will be no hindrance, the vehicles will get customs clearance easily,” he said.

“The Indian Ministry for External Affairs has welcomed constitution amendment,” he added, “There are signals that obstruction will be lifted soon and we are waiting for it.”
