KATHMANDU, March 13: The Rana siblings Mayanka and Mahika have entered into the semifinals of the ongoing 10th Sahabir Memorial Open Lawn Tennis Tournament on Monday.
In the women’s singles match played at Nepal Armed Police Force headquarters in Halchowk, Mahika defeated Abhilasha Bista 6-1, 6-0, while Mahika beat Anne Mathema 6-1, 6-1 to reach the last four.

Likewise, in the same category, Ganga Sharma saw off Indrakala Shrestha 6-1, 6-0, while Ira Rawat overcame Bhagwati BK 6-2, 6-0 to book its semifinal berths. Similarly, the semifinal lineup for the men’s singles has also been completed. Butwal’s Bikash Khadka defeated Kathmandu’s Bibek Shankar Shrestha 6-1, 6-0, Lalitpur’s Pranab Khanal beat Kathmandu’s Kastav Pandey 6-0, 6-1, Lalitpur’s Jitendra Pariyar thumped Abhishek Bista 6-0, 6-0 and Kamal Bhandari saw off Kathmandu’s Subrat Basnet 6-2, 6-0 to advance into the last four.
Likewise, in men’s doubles, the pair of Man Bahadur Katwal and Jeevan Ghimire beat Shivam Bikram Thapa and Saroj Tamang 6-0, 6-2, while Lalitpur’s Santosh Khatri and Jitendra Pariyar saw off Kathmandu’s Chhewang Lama and Bibek Shankar Shrestha 6-1, 6-0. Likewise, Nepal Police Club’s Pranab Khanal and Kamal Bhandari overcame Pokhara’s Nabin Magar and Anjan Thing 6-2, 6-1, while Pokhara’s Pradeep Khadka and Anil Shahi beat Butwal’s Bikash Khadka and Gopal Gyawali 6-2, 6-4. All the winning pairs reached the semifinals round.
