JANAKPUR, Dec 16: 'Bhagwan Ram Sita Baibahik Karyagram' (Wedding ceremony of Lord Ram and Sita alias Janaki) has been cancelled in Janakpur.
The ceremony has been cancelled after tension ran high in the area following the protests from United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) protestors against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari's visit.
After the cancellation of the ceremony, wedding party members from Ayodhya, India have started returning to home.
A symbolic wedding between God Ram and Goddess Sita is observed in Janakpur on the auspicious occasion of 'Bibaha Panchami'. A group of wedding party members from Ayodhya, India, birthplace of Lord Ram, travel to Janakpur, Nepal, birthplace of Goddess Sita, to attend the marriage.

Janakpur temple area remained tense on Wednesday afternoon as agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) staged protests against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari's visit.
The protestors even pelted stones while the president emerged out after offering prayers in temple.

Police fired three rounds of tear gas canisters after the protestors hurled petrol bombs at them.
Police have cordoned off the area.
There had been stern protests in Janakpur after the president's visit was scheduled.
The protestors even burnt the president's effigies.
