“During our inspection, we found date-expired medicines from many medical stores being operated in the immediate vicinity of the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital and the District Public Health Office,” said Netra Khatiwada, section officer at DAO, adding, drug stores were found selling date-expired drugs heedlessly.

The monitoring team had seized 10 cartons of date-expired medicines from National Drug Pharmacy. Likewise, date expired medicines were also confiscated from Chadani Health Care and Priyanka Pharmacy among others, informed Raghubir Sah, chief of the monitoring team.

Apart from the date-expired medicines, some drug stores were also found operating without license, said Sah.

A week ago, the monitoring team had also found that most of the pathology laboratories in Rajbiraj were using date-expired chemicals for clinical test.

The officials have warned the offending drugstores that they would face action if they play with public health.
