Rai, Magar win Cross Country Championship

KATHMANDU, March 17: Rajiv Rai and Laxmi Magar won the 17th National MTB Cross Country Championship on Saturday.

In the event organized by the Nepal Cycling Association played at the National Peace and Martyr’s Park at the Gokarneshwar Municipality, Rai won the title completing the 20 km race of five laps in one hour, 31 minutes and 32 seconds, informed the technical coordinator of men’s champion Devendra Basnet. 

In the women’s category, Magar won the tournament completing the same distance race in one hour, 45 minutes and 49 seconds. 

Pratap Thapa finished second in the men’s category completing the race in one hour, 31 minutes and 39 seconds, while Okesh Bajracharya completed the race to finish third in one hour, 34 minutes and three seconds. 

In the women’s category, Sonu Gurung and Humi Budha Magar stood second and third respectively completing the race in one hour, 51 minutes and 57 seconds, and two hours, 11 minutes and 22 seconds. 

Deepak Jimee and Harka Lama won the junior boys’ category and masters’ category respectively. Jimee completed the 16 km of four laps in one hour, 19 minutes and 19 seconds, while Lama completed the same distance race in one hour, seven minutes and 35 seconds. The two-day event had only downhill and cross country categories. On the first day, Suman Tamang, Nishma Shrestha and Niraj Shrestha were first in the men, women and junior categories respectively.
