Rafting boat capsizes in Babai

BARDIYA, Aug 19: A raft manned by security personnel deployed for the protection of Bardiya National Park capsized in the Babai River on Saturday.


Twelve persons including Nepal Police, Nepal Army and national park personnel were in two rafting boats, one of which capsized. They were setting out for monitoring when one raft overturned, said Assistant Conservation Officer Ashok Bhandari.

According to him, national park employee Bhola Yadav is missing from the capsized boat. Rescue and search is ongoing. The others who were in the capsized boat are in good condition.


A team of the Armed Police Force from Samshergunj, Banke has been mobilized for the search and rescue operation. They have joined a Nepal Army and Police search team.
