KATHMANDU, Jan 5: With political parties witnessing a continuous decline in popularity, former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah has become increasingly active, participating in various programs across different districts. Addressing a civic felicitation event in Bhairahawa on Thursday, the former monarch said that he is on the side of the Nepali people.

In his address, he shared, "Everywhere I go, the people's plea resounds, urging me to come and save the country, protect its civilization, and ensure prosperity." He also said he is with the Nepali people, closely observing their joys, sorrows, pains, and challenges.

On the one hand, the criticism of the political leadership has been on the rise as the parties fail to fulfill the people's aspirations. On the other hand, in many places, the slogan 'Raja Aau, Desh Bachau' (King, come and save the country) is being heard. Also, some have argued that the country has already suffered from the king's autocratic rule and that new alternatives should be sought. Regardless of that, the country is deteriorating day by day from every aspect. So, we pose the question to our readers: Can our country be saved by the return of the king?
