GORKHA, Aug 23: The quake-survivors from Aarughat in Gorkha have arrived at the district headquarters demanding compensation and house reconstruction grant.

The Aarughat locals have complained that the government is creating delay in providing compensation and grant although their businesses have slowed down with rumours of Budhi Gandaki Hydro Power project reservoir overflowing and inundating the Aarughat bazaar.

"The land transaction has come to standstill for the last three years with rumours that the Budhi Gandaki project would flood Aarughat," said Budhi Prasad Shrestha, Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Aarughat Bajaar Unit.

The government has imposed a ban in transaction of land property in Budhi Gandaki area since last year. The Aarughat locals plan to submit a memorandum to Chief District Officer (CDO) Narayan Bhatta to draw the government's attention towards their demands. RSS
