Quake measuring 5.9 on Richter scale rattles western Nepal; houses, temple damaged   (Update)

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Four houses and a temple were damaged when an earthquake hit western Nepal Tuesday afternoon. The quake was centered around the Mela area of Bajura district.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Four houses and a temple were damaged when an earthquake hit western Nepal Tuesday afternoon. The quake was centered around the Mela area of Bajura district.


DSP Surya Thapa informed Republica that two houses were destroyed in Ward No. 7 and  two other houses in Ward No. 9 of Badimalika Municipality of Bajura.

Lokendra Bahadur Bista, assistant chief district officer of Bajura, said that no human casualties were reported. “The police are collecting details about other damages,” he said.


An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale rattled western Nepal with its epicenter around the Mela area of Bajura district in Sudurpaschim at 2:43 PM.
