Quake death toll reaches 7,365

KATHMANDU, May 4: The death toll across the country due to the April 25 earthquake has surged to 7,365, according to the latest update by the Home Ministry.

As per the update, the number of injured ones has reached 14,355.


The highest number of the dead has been recorded in the Sindhupalchowk district which currently has soared to 2,838 while in Kathmandu death toll has steadily rose to 1,202.

As many as 10, 744 government buildings have been flattened while 14,741 received partial damages.

Similarly, as many as 191,058 houses belonging to the people were damaged completely while 175,162 got partial damages.

In Eastern region, 53 persons are confirmed dead and 323 injured, while in Mid Region the number of dead stands at the highest with 6,890dead and 12,801 injured. The death toll has reached 421 with 1,205 sustaining injuries in Western region with two dead and 26 injured in the Mid Western region.

In the Far-western region, some seven government office's building have received partial damage and six locals' houses have suffer minor damage. No human causality is reported in this region.
