KATHMANDU, June 21: Qatar Airways has been named the 'Airline of the Year' in Skytrax World Airline Awards held on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show on Tuesday.
Issing a statement, the airline said that travelers from around the world voted it as the best airline.
Qatar’s national carrier also won other awards like Best Airline in the Middle East, and World’s Best Business Class and World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge.
Similarly, Qatar Airways' home and hub, Hamad International Airport, was rated five-star by Skytrax, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the Doha-based carrier has said that it was planning to launch its service in 24 new destinations.
It recently added Dublin, Republic of Ireland, to its global route network, soon to be followed by Nice, France; Skopje, Republic of Macedonia and Chang Mai, Thailand, according to the statement.
"This is the fourth time that Qatar Airways has been given this global recognition as the world’s best airline.
Qatar Airways previously won the title of the World’s Best Airline in 2011, 2012 and 2015," the statement added.
