Bajracharya defeated Suwal 11-5, 5-11, 11-8, 11-8, and 11-9 to move two spots up in the national ranking. Suwal was on top in the previous ranking while Bajracharya was in the third rank.[break]
Bajracharya, 28, from Sundhara in Lalitpur joined the APF Club since the Sixth National Games in 2012.
Bajracharya started playing table tennis from his early days as former national players Bishnu Bahadur Shrestha and Rajendra Kapali encouraged and motivated him. Panna Kaji Shakya guided him and taught basic table tennis lessons to him.
Bajracharya joined the National Table Tennis Training Center (NTTTC) at Lainchaur in 2056 BS. Coaches Surendra Suwal, Nabin Suwal and Sushil Paudel guided him at the NTTTC. He played in the 30th National Table Tennis Championship in 2060 BS and secured his place in the national team. He is a regular member of the team since then. He won titles in some selection tournaments and the Birthday Cup.
He represented Nepal in the World Table Tennis Championship 2009, the 11th South Asian Games (SAG) 2010 in Dhaka, the Asian Table Tennis Championship 2009, the 16th Asian Games, and the Indian Open Pro Tour 2007. He claimed a bronze medal in the men’s team event during the 11th South Asian Games (SAG).
He also participated in the South Asian Junior Championship 2004 held in Bangladesh and Delhi as well as the Asian Junior Championship 2004 held in Delhi. He was a member of the Nepali boys’ team that claimed a bronze in the South Asian Junior Championship 2004 held in Delhi.
“There was a tough competition between five players of the national team and I’m happy to win this time,” said Bajracharya to Republica.
“I have my target of playing in the men’s team final in the next South Asian Games and claiming at least a bronze medal in the individual section,” he added
