The Ministry of Defense (MoD) had sent a letter to the Ministry of Information and Communications expressing its displeasure at the use of army uniform and asked for the ban of the film. The film, which was dragged into controversy following MoD’s protest, has been receiving support since. [break]
Director Pandit has said that he will now be following the usual procedure and sending Badhshala to the censor board within this week. “There’s just some work to be done with the music, and I’ll be submitting Badhshala as soon as it’s completed. The MoD seems to have stuck to its decision, and after consulting fellow filmmakers I’ve decided that going the normal route is the best move at the moment,” said Pandit.
According to him, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has promised to extend his support should there be any hassle. If the censor board refuses to let the film screen in cinemas, the letter stating its reasons will be a point through which Pandit can move the court.
Badhshala was scheduled to be released on March 8.
