KATHMANDU, Sep 13: After a nearly week-long hiatus, public transportation within the Kathmandu Valley has resumed, bringing life back to normal.
A large number of public vehicles are now operating on their regular routes, including taxi services available across the valley. Public buses, taxis, and other vehicles have been running since early morning. As mobility improves, shops have also started reopening, although public movement has yet to regain the momentum seen on regular days.
The hassle of traveling in public vehicles
Long-distance buses from places like Chitwan and Pokhara have also departed for Kathmandu. Transportation across the valley had been suspended since September 8 following the Gen Z protest.
The curfew imposed by the Nepali Army on the night of September 9, aimed at ensuring peace and stability, further restricted public movement.
On Saturday, the Nepali Army did not issue its regular notice extending the curfew, encouraging more people to venture outside. However, since today is a weekly public holiday in Nepal, life is expected to return more fully to normal starting tomorrow.
