SURKTH, Jan 14: Karnali state government has declared public holiday on Maghi festival, the main festival of the Tharu community.
A cabinet meeting of Karnali state government held on November 5, 2019 decided to give public holiday in the state on Maghi festival as the festival is celebrated by the Tharu community as well as other communities, said Spokesperson at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Tul Bahadur Khadka.
A notice issued today reads, "All government and public offices across the Karnali state will remain closed on Wednesday."
Similarly, public organisations as well as educational institutions would also get public holiday on Magh 1, said Spokesperson Khadka.
