DHANKUTA, Nov 26: Dhankuta Municipality has declared a public holiday in Dhankuta district. On the occasion of Wadangmet festival, the main festival of the Aathpahariya caste, the municipality has given two days of public holiday.


Mayor Chintan Tamang of Dhankuta Municipality stated that November 26 and 27 have been designated as public holidays to mark Wadangmet, a significant festival for the Aathpahariya community residing predominantly in the Dhankuta region.

"In the occasion of Wadangmet, we give public holidays every year," Mayor Tamang said, " This year, we have decided to provide a two-day public holiday."


Office of Municipal Executive, all 10 ward offices, municipality level offices and schools within the municipality area will be closed during the holiday. Aathpahariya, who consider Dhankuta municipality area as their place of origin, have been celebrating the Wadangmet festival for 15 days with great fanfare.
